We will also host a panel of women business owners who have successfully navigated the program, receiving grants and contracts. This will be your opportunity to ask them questions, hear their perspectives and gain the benefits of their experiences.
Program Background:
The SBIR/STTR programs are a key source of financing for early-stage research and development (R&D) that translates discoveries into impactful products, services, and companies. This 40+ year-old program invests $3.5 billion each year in small businesses, making it the largest single source of non-dilutive, early-stage, high-risk funding.
In 2018, women-owned businesses made up only 20% of all firms that employed people in the United States. To make matters worse, only 13% of SBIR awards in the same year went to women-owned companies.
