What are your legal obligations and key considerations as a small business owner facing reopening in California?

Small Business Majority is joining Santa Clara Law School's Entrepreneurial Legal Advisory Clinic (ELAC) to host free legal, COVID-19 advising clinics for small business owners and entrepreneurs this spring. During these sessions, licensed attorneys--assisted by law student volunteers--will provide free legal counseling on employment law, tax law, and small business matters.

Here are some examples of legal questions you may consider:

  • How do you properly rehire your employees? What about workers' compensation?
  • Are you considering moving your business online?
  • Are you aware of employer responsibilities under California's Paid Family Leave program and about paid sick days?

A legal clinic will also be held on Saturday, March 13, and Saturday, April 10 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. All sessions will be held via remote video conferencing and small business owners will make an appointment with an attorney in advance.
