Over the spring and summer of 2023, fellows at the University of California, Berkeley Diversity and Entrepreneurship (D&E) Fellowship Program conducted interviews with women entrepreneurs of color asking about their experiences accessing capital and growing their businesses. This research places a particular emphasis on examining the role played by intersectionality (race and gender) and lived experience in shaping women-of-color entrepreneurs’ access not only to financial capital, but to the human and social capital needed to start and grow a small business.
The University of California, Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies invites you to attend this Research Symposium where findings from their latest research will be shared and you'll have an opportunity to meet small business owners who participated in the study, including several business owners from Small Business Majority's California network.
Small Business Majority's California Policy Director Bianca Blomquist and Vice President of Programs & Engagement Xiomara Peña will be in attendance.
Ms. Peña is joining a panel titled "The Road to Recovery: Addressing Inequities and Displacement of POC-Owned Small Business in California" to share insights on tangible solutions women of color need to gain access to a fair and level playing field.
